Our local borough Safer Neighbourhoods Team for Bow West Ward currently has an online survey available. The "Bow West October 2022 Virtual Ward Survey" only takes a minute or two to fill out and is an excellent opportunity for you to let the local police know about issues affecting you here in Bow.

Whilst completing the survey you have the opportunity to detail particular issues and can give very granular details such as the street name, times etc. I would really encourage you to do this. Such data is used to set local policing priorities.

Bow West Police Ward Panel - Get Involved!

Safer Neighbourhood Teams in London aim to hold quarterly "ward panel meetings".These meetings allow residents to talk directly with the police, councillors, and other key parties such as Tower Hamlets Homes about local issues. Importantly, local policing priorities are set at these meetings.

Unfortunately due to COVID, staffing, volunteer and other issues our own Bow West Panel hasn't been meeting as often as it should. Meotra, together with our two local councillors Asma Begum and Nathalie Bienfait, and Alex and Barny from the local police, having been working behind the scenes to get these useful meetings going again.

Meotra always sends a representative (indeed Roshan, a MEOTRA committee member, has chaired the meeting for many years), but we are really keen to encourage fresh faces to come along. Monthly Crime Data is available on the MPS Crime Dashboard and here. It is highly searchable right down to the ward level. It is extremely detailed - it even lists the number of fish stolen in May 2022 in Bow West (four).

Your chance to influence Police Priorities in Bow West

 

Every three months the police in Bow West meet with local residents and community leaders to help decide local policing priorities at a Ward Panel Meeting. The meeting is community led and chaired by a local [MEOTRA] resident.

We have a meeting coming up in a few weeks and PC Sam Lowe 1901CE, who is part of the Bow West Safer Neighbourhood Team, is keen for residents to take just a couple of minutes to complete a survey regarding Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and crime within our area:

The survey helps choose the local priorities for the next three months. It is anonymous and really does only take a few minutes.

Safer Neighbourhood Meeting 22nd February

Residents may wish to attend the above meeting. In recent months MEOTRA has received numerous reports about ASB and suspected drug dealing in our area and the above meeting will provide an ideal opportunity to help shape policing priorities.

Drug dealing seems to be taking place on 4-5 of our streets in particular. Typically, deals follow the pattern: man waits on street; flash car drives up; window slides down; quick exchange of "stuff" and then they both go their separate ways. 

Both PC Megan Bushell of Bow West Safer Neighbourhood Team and Cllr Josh Peck are aware of the issue and ask that we call 101 to report people waiting on street corners for deals. Give as much info as you can (time, car number plates, descriptions, etc).

Each week the police allocate a portion of their resources according to reported crime. So regular reports do make a difference.
