Jubilee Jamboree - Thanks for the memories!

GRoup photo of MEOTRA residents celebrating the Queen's Jubilee
Our rough and ready group photo -from concept to execution in under 2 mins.

If you came along on Sunday we really hoped you enjoyed our Jamboree.

We aimed for it to be fun, free, inclusive and hyper-local. We think we succeeded on all those objectives, but what do you think?

Please take a moment to feedback your thoughts using this really short online form. You can do it anonymously, but a name/email would be appreciated. The day wouldn't have been possible without our army of volunteers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank those who helped out in so many ways:

So thanks to Barbara, Cathy, Celyn, Cheryl, Colleen, Diana, Gail, Javinda (and son-in-law), Joan, John, Maggie, Margaret, Michelle, Neel, Nicky, Pritam, Sarah, Steph, Sue, Vivien, Xiaoling (and hubby). And if we have left anyone out then a massive apologies and let us know. It was a team effort and put together by volunteers giving their time and energy for nothing..

Thanks to The Lord Tredegar, The Pizza Room and The Greedy Cow for donating prizes and to Tower Hamlets Council for some funding of £500.

Thanks to the Mile End Park team for the loan of tables and chairs, Angela from theHac for even more tables and chairs, and last but not least thank you to Musa who is our local street cleaner. He came along on his one day off because “It is my patch, and if I don’t do it today, I’ll have to do it on Monday”. He is a legend who many will remember him for keeping going throughout lockdown whilst we were "doing the WFH".

Mum I'm on the telly!

We made the BBC News Website and BBC London News (see just after the Red Arrows and 19 minutes in) and were interviewed by the a French national paper, who particularly liked our Splat The Royal Rat manned by republicans. How is that for inclusivity!

Take a look at our photo album and please let us know (info@meotra.org.uk) if you have any more photos to add

Join us today [Sunday] in Tredegar Square for the last day of Jubilations.

Meotra are having our Jubilee Jamboree from midday until 5. We've lots to do, or just chill with a lovely steel pan band providing some lovely tunes.

Lots for the kids and it is all free (two Facepainters, two bouncy castles, a coconut shie, lots of garden games, splat the Royal Rat, traditional fun races (sack races, three-legged, egg and spoon with lots of prizes (and medals too!)). Don't worry there will be lots for adults too!

We've a [free] hot and cold drinks stall, samosas, bhajis and other nosh.
So just bring a picnic blanket , bring some finger food to share (we'll have a tented table to lay it out on) and cross your fingers the forecast holds 🤞🤞🤞

Meotra resident Kay, from Ukraine, will be collecting for Ukraine (please bring cash or they'll be a PayPal QR code).

Although COVID rates are low at the moment, and we are outdoors which helps reduce the risk, please if possible take a lateral flow before you come. We'll have FREE Covid test kits to pickup (50 packs of 7!).
